Dylan Brophy
“ Success in this game depends less on strength of body than strength of mind and character.”

I started playing golf in March 2013, which is believed to be a late age, however, in the timeframe I have achieved and accomplished many of my goals and I believe I have the drive and passion to continue achieving them to get me to where I need to be. My handicap is +3.6 which is below scratch. I aspire to make it to the top and earn a living from this career.
I have recently turned a professional golfer after competing for 2 years in the top amateur golf competition in Ireland. Throughout those amateur competitions, I finished within the top 20 on the leader board. The Bridgestone competition was an order or merit standing, this ranking included 3 top 5 finishes in the championships with a semi-final in the Irish Close and 3rd place finish in Cork Stroke play. The following are additional achievements that have shaped me as a player which include a series of scratch cup wins in Westmanstown, Castlecomer, and Lucan, together with competing towards the final stages in senior cup and getting to a Leinster final in Barton shield with Castleknock. I have also won many gross prizes and medals in my current and past clubs; Castleknock and Luttrellstown.
My goal in golf is to get to the top and as I previously mentioned, I fully believe in my ability and believe I have what it takes. I am willing to give every effort to get to where I need to be. My plan for the continuation of 2021 is to continue playing Jamega tour with confirmed start dates in April following through to September, and also play Europro and Challenge Tour Qualifying events in England.
Understandably, at this level it is difficult and takes time to build one’s way up and place oneself, however, in my first 3 professional events, I finished tied 11th ,9th and 18th. Following these placings, it contributed to my recognition and I hope to begin receiving Europro invites this year. Europro is a level above other professional competition, it has superior recognition throughout since it is televised. Furthermore, this year I also wish to compete in the TP tour and clutch events which similarly begin in April and finish in September indicating parallel events throughout the season, leaving me with the decision to choose which competition best fits my needs, standards and realistic goal. However, some events will not clash allowing me to compete in the majority of them.
Resulting from these event opportunities it allows me to obtain my competitive edge where it needs to be by competing with many different professional levels. It will however, give me the chance to broaden my experience, allowing me to reach the next level and get me to where I need to be before playing
In the midst of Covid-19, golf unfortunately has been at a standstill, leaving it a very unsure time for striving professional golfers. Nevertheless, I am very fortunate that I have the use of my own track man which is the number one golf training aid to help with maintaining and improving my game in a time when it is difficult to do. Additionally I have access to Carton House training facilities during the third lockdown. Carton House are the GUI grounds and have the permission for professional golfers to continue their practice.
